On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2008 there will be a charity Art Show at The Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh's West End. I will have 4 pieces of work included in the exhibition, which is in aid of The Muir Maxwell Trust, a charity that supports children with severe epilepsy. These works were inspired by my surroundings in early Spring. Living so high up a hill as we do means that when we get snow here we usually get lots. Whilst out w
alking the dogs we were carefully watched by a long single row of sheep. It was such a sight that it deserved a creation, hence 'Cheviot Lines'. The sheep are black faced Cheviots, a common breed in the Scottish Borders.

Never quite sure of what frames show my work to its best. I have learned that what may be my choice of frame is not always a customers choice. I realise it is impossible to choose a frame that everyone will like but recently I have decided to try out a more neutral style of framing that I hope works well with my work. So far they have proved popular and would appreciate any feedback you may wish to make. They have a creamish coloured wooden deep slip, mounted with a black centered cream/white mountboard and the frame is a 3" domed gold/silver mix.
In October I headed off to Tuscany for a few days. It was a truly beautiful and inspiring place and here are a few of the pieces of work which followed.

Hectic time! I've been getting a collection of new work together, and have just finished having it framed in time for the WASPS Open Studio weekend, which starts tomorrow. Along with my work, there's work on display by 10 of my fellow WASPS artists - a real mix which has come together wonderfully to create a really exciting show. As well as the exhibition, there will be live music sessions hosted by local Balkan/East European-inspired band One Glass Eye, plus felt demonstrations by myself, and the chance to participate in The Big Draw. Admission is free and there'll be refreshments and nibbles.
Work on display includes painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles, digital media, jewellery, glass, installation and sculpture.
Doors open Sat 6th Oct 11-5, Sun 7th 12-5, St Mary's Mill Studios, Selkirk. After which I'm off into the sun till 24th October...
