Jemma Derbyshire

Jemma’s work explores a fascination with colour - an obsession perhaps, Found in the abundant life of a summer garden, or in the low transient light of the winter landscape.

While drawings from observation inform the starting point of the work, each piece becomes more about the memory of the perceived, but also the experience felt.

Like memories, some things face, while others become more relevant, more persistent than initially thought. It is those memories that linger, and return again and again, that are capture in the work.

Jemma lives and work in East Lothian, Scotland. Her studio is tucked away at the bottom of the garden, allowing her a little sanctuary in which to work.
